Havasupai Hiking Trip

This is a short video of a trip to the Havasupai Indian Reservation that that we took a short time ago. Kevin, Brandon, Myself(Jason)and my brother in law Jeff applied and got a permit to go. It had taken 6 months to get a reservation and we had to go during the week at that. Weekends are reserved a year in advance. They said that they limit the amount of people to minimize the impact to the area and native people. The area is near the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It is actually a side canyon off from the main canyon. We started the trip at the top of the rim and hiked ourselves into "Supai" a village at 12 miles. Then 2 more miles to the campground where we stayed for 4 days. We were camped around 6 various waterfalls with miles of river and swimming pools with rope swings. We had our gear packed in on mules and day hiked in. This was my 3rd time here and wanted to eat good and have a few extra's this time. It was worth the little extra cost. Kevin likes to cook and bake, so we really ate well on our packable stoves and oven. We spent the days swimming and hiking in water shoes and swim suits. Some of the waterfalls are acccessible only through caves and then lowering ourselves down chains hanging from the cliffs. The turquoise water is from the high lime content. The evenings were spent playing cards and telling stories and laughing until it was too late. We took over 400 pictures and none of them came close to how we remembered it. It is an amazing place.

We are debating on going this May, our boys have been with friends and they love it too. They are going again in May and have invited us - I like the pack mule idea!
