Zion's Nat. Park Trip

Last week Brandon and I decided to take a trip to Zion for a long weekend and hike through a slot canyon called the Subway. It is a 14 mile trip from start to the bottom. The first few miles were rock slabs with no trail, only my GPS to mark to way. We slowly worked our way down into the canyon that requires that you swim in and out of pools and the river the rest of the way.
Several parts require the use of rope to lower ourselves down off ledges or through waterfalls. The water was chilly but not cold. We hiked in water shoes and board shorts

and were wet most of the day. All of our gear were in water proof bags because we had to swim with our backpacks on. The scenery was breathtaking and we took tons of pictures.

The day before the Subway we hiked inside Zion's canyon to a place called Angels Landing. While on the way down I got attacked by a swarm of bees and 4 stung me on the left ankle. Unfortunately I tend to really swell up with insect stings. The next morning when I woke up to go on the Subway hike I found that my ankle had swollen so much that I could not bend my foot at the ankle. It made me walk funny that day but it didn't keep my from going. I took a picture of my ankle but it's hard to see the swelling in the photo.

Along one portion of the trail just above the rivers edge are petrified dinosaur tracks

We are lowering ourselves down into the Subway Portion where there are tunnels, a waterfall room and sink holes

We camped two nights nearby and enjoyed fishing at a lake that was close by. I invited two of my foreman to go with us. We had a great trip even though it was too short.

We had such a great time we decided to come back again next year. Anyone want to come?

What a gorgeous place. We definitely need to go there the next time we go to Zion's, or we'll just have to tag along with you guys. Glad you had a nice time. Sorry about the bee stings.
