The Dating Game

This last Sunday we held a youth fireside where we played and re-created "The Dating Game" game show.
Kevin and I wrote the script last year just for fun and all the boys in our group wanted to do it. So we did. I was the MC sporting the mullet wig. My whole outfit cost $5.00 from the local thrift store. We had four bachelors 1."Peter Poindexter" 2."Larry the Lifeguard" 3. "Jedi Knight Ned" 4. "Ricky Righteous". Bachelorette - "Chelsea Church".
Basically the script dealt with all the "For Strength of Youth" dating do's and don'ts. We set it up as if we were taping a real game show. We had two commercial breaks where we played prerecorded video of the fun/hip couples in our ward telling their most memorable dates and and their worst dates. The video was really funny.
The guy in the purple shirt held up audience cue cards. "Boo", "Applause", "Ewe..", "Laugh", and controlled the ipod with each characters theme music. For example, when Ricky Righteous was introduced, everyone was asked to stand, then the music "Spirit of God" played, and as he entered the room, he began to hand out pass-along cards to the audience. Every character's responses reflected the character they were playing. We had alot of fun and I think it was a hit.

That looks like the best idea ever. If we had activities like that I would have enjoyed fireside meetings A LOT more! Hilarious and so cool.

Great idea. I'm sure the youth loved it. Like Jarom said, I think firesides would have been a lot more fun with you guys around. We'll have to see it sometime since you taped it. Awesome!
